The strength and volume which exudes from the shape of this bottle is seen also in the vigorous brushwork of its decoration.

The surface is coated with brushed slip from the interior of the trumpet-like mouth to the foot and two horizontal lines around the interior rim, three around the shoulder, and two around the lower body provide the background for the main design.

The flower motifs which make up the main decoration, unhindered by the competing presence of a subordinate ornament, is executed in bold and free brushstokes, reminiscent of traditional ink painting.

A translucent glaze of yellowish hue has been thinly applied and has peeled off in places. The sturdy foot slants slightly outwards and there are no clear spur marks on the base.
