In terms of the sophistication of form, decoration and material, this faceted bottle exemplifies the epitome of Choson porcelain ware produced at the official kilns of Kumsa-ri in Kwangju district.

The keen angularity of the octagonal body and foot provides a pleasing contrast to the gentle softness of the circular mouth and rounded lip.

This shape, widely seen invessels of the middle Choson period onwards, was achieved by first throwing a bottle with extremely thick walls and then cutting vertically along the surface to create the faceted edges. The decoration, skillfully executed in high quality cobalt, is composed of a bamboo motif in which a larger bunch appears on one side and a slightly smaller one on the other. Both appear as though they are spouting from the ground as a horizontal base line is encircled around the bottle.

The pale blue bluish glaze has no crackle and two Chinese characters, one signifying "stream" and the other "well", are incised on the foot. While the exterior of the foot was cut into an octagonal shape, the interior, upon which fine sand particles were placed, was cut in an indented, circular manner.
