This vessel was used as a cosmetic or perfumery container.
Inside the case, there are small vessels like a lotus petal on its stem. The patterns of chrysanthemum petal are inlaid on the lid.

The edge is encircled with the bands of lotus petals and pearls. The flying crane in cloud is depicted as a typical main pattern of the mid 12th century.

On the sides of the lid and the lower part, swastika letter patterns and pearl patterns are inlaid in white clay.

The pearl patterns in black inlay on the inside, the chrysanthemum petals on the center of the lid are remarkable.
The base was made by digging out the bottom, and it was fired with sand grit supports. The glaze is relatively light and there are little minute crackles only around the inlaid parts.
