About Garin Nugroho

Born in 1961 in Jogjakarta, he studied filmmaking at the Jakarta Institute of the Arts
and has made several documentary films. His first feature film Love on a Slice of
Bread(1991) won him Best Young Director Award at the Asia Pacific Film festival 1993
in Seoul. At present, he is teaching at IKJ and is active as a critic.
