About So Close to Paradise
Economic reforms in China impel a large number of farm workers to seek work in big cities. Dongzi and Gao Ping are members of this crowd; Dongzi works at the docks, while Gao Ping gets by as a con man. After he is cheated in a scam, Gao Ping seeks revenge by kidnapping a young woman. Little does he realize that she is the girlfriend of a gang boss.
