About Forgive Me, Mother
Mrs. Lee is a typical Korean mother who lost her husband long time ago and lives with Sang-Cheol, Sang-Ho, Hye-Young and her father-in-law. For Cha(father-in-law) strongly opposes Hye-Young's college education, Mrs. Lee tries to borrow her daughter's tuition from married Sang-Cheol and Sang-Ho, but she can send Hye-young to college with help of Yong Pil-Bu, a shylock. Mrs. Lee doesn't get angry with impiety of Sang-Cheol and his wife, and gives poor Sang-Ho even her ring. But she is expelled from the family by her father-in-law because of bad rumor spreaded by Yong Pil-Bu. At the same time Hye-Young goes wrong to become a barmaid. Mrs. Lee attempts to suicide but is save by a buddhist nun. And then she is hospitalized due to nervous breakdown.
