About Hill of Sadness
Grown up in adverse circumstance, Jong-Bae falls in love with a prostitute Ok-Hwa hand makes efforts to guide her to honesty life. Ok-Hwa too loves him, but because of guilty conscience, does not speak out that she loves him. Whenever she hear the sound of a church bell on the hill, she tries to go to the church and to seek relief there following Jong Bae's persuasion, but fails to do so for conscience. Meanwhile, her old complaint, lung disease gets worse. Finally, she dies under the hill on which the church is standing. Jong-Bae tolls the bell so as to console her soul.
