Na Hye-Seok, who is the first female western style painter in Korea in 1920's, graduates Kyodo University in Japan, and is asked to divorce from her husband named Kim Wu-Young who is a government official of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs in Japan. She lived rich life and devoted herself to the painting and writing, and gave birth to four children in the marriage with Kim Wu-Young. Her husband asks her to divorce because she keeps friendship with Choi Rin whom she knew during the trip to America and Europe with her husband. The public opinion becomes worse considering special relation between her (a famous painter enough to stimulate curiosity) and Choi Rin, a signer of the Declaration of Independence of Korea, so that she is forced to be divorced and lose everything. She tries to devote herself to the painting and forget her ill fate but fails.
